Superdragon Group, the manufacturer of the UK’s first medically approved device for helping people quit smoking, is targeting wholesalers, chemists, pubs, restaurants and cigarette shops to stock its products. Initially, two items are to be offered for reselling, the new Magic Black Stick a medical device which was formally launched in early January, and the Modern Electronic Cigarette, a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by way of a vaporized solution.
A key feature is that both non-tobacco solutions can be legally inhaled in pubs, cafes, restaurants, railway stations and hundreds of other public spaces, without breaching the smoking ban or causing discomfort to other people.
The most exciting is the QuikQuit™ Magic Black Stick which is non-nicotine and is the first to be classified as a Medical Device Class 1, giving a readymade solution to the hundreds of thousands of smokers who are trying to quit the habit.
Award winning Superdragon, which is based in Leeds, invented the Magic Black Stick and Modern Electronic Cigarette in response to the smoking ban, which has badly affected the licencing and tobacco trade. Superdragon has already won numerous international awards last year for its Modern Electronic Cigarette and is confident that both products will open up a strong new income stream for pubs, retailers and wholesalers, despite the tough trading environment.
The company is also confident that not only will this help smokers stop, but also potentially save the NHS millions of pounds on treating smoking related illnesses. Both the Magic Black Stick and Modern Electronic Cigarette, provide the sensation of a real cigarette without the toxins associated with smoking such as tar and cancer-causing carcinogens.
Magic Black Stick vaporette is a non-nicotine cartridge from Superdragon and is the first that can be legally advertised as a health aid to meet strict medical devices regulations and is recorded by the Department of Health’s Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA Ref CA101364).
The Modern Electronic Cigarette provides inhaled doses of nicotine by way of a vaporized solution, and like the new Magic Sticks, has no tobacco, smoke or combustion involved in its operation.
Both products are the brain child of medical doctor, engineer and inventor David Xiu. Dr Xiu, who is a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and former consultant cardiologist, holds the exclusive patent for the products.
He said: “We are targeting wholesalers, retailers and the licence trade with the only UK products that hold a legal patent and, in the case of the Magic Black Stick, can be advertised as a legal health aid. These products should not only open up additional revenue streams and hopefully add sales value to everybody involved, but also help the many millions of people who would like to quit smoking.”
Smoking-related diseases kills around 10 million people in the world each year and while there is already a plethora of well-known Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products in the UK, such as gum and patches, the Department of Health reports that the average number of people who die in England annually from smoking is still around 80,000.
Superdragon currently supplies select wholesalers and consumers with e-cigarettes in the UK, France, Spain and Germany but the group has ambitious plans to target all of Europe, Canada, Australia and Brazil.
